Summary:
Alexa Meade – a 2D and 3D illusionary artist brought to life a simple white enclosure for guests to interact and be part of, visiting the Facebook space at Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity for Instagram.
As part of Instagram’s larger installation at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity – the interactive art gallery ‘Step into the Frame’ guests in the Facebook space were invited to step into the world of Alexa Meade, and a scene she created for the beach at Cannes Lions. Inside the space, guests had a unique opportunity to engage with Alexa Meade and understand how Instagram elevated her presence and creative works on the platform.
Concept:
Positioned along the beach front, Alexa Meade’s space was carefully angled to look out at the horizon line of the water, from which she painted her scene.
From here she brought to life a 3-dimensional enclosure painting 2-dimensional colour across walls, furniture and props to give a 3-dimensional illusion.
Guests stepped inside the space to be captured by instagram’s renowned photographer, George Lange. The image captured was a result of a 2-dimensional paint style morphed with 3-dimensional objects and real people within the space. All the elements coming together into a single image to play trickery to the human eye. What is real? What is a painting?
